  • MBO

What are you going to do?

For our sea-going fleet, we are looking for a Ships Electronical Engineer to work on a 5-weeks on/off rotation. You will be working on one of our modern dredging vessels. You will encounter a wide range of electrical and automation systems to keep you challenged. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you will maintain and optimize the electrical systems on board, ensuring that the ship’s administration related to the electrical systems is up to date and compliant with Van Oord standards, such as the ship's logbook and daily reports.

As a Ships Electronical Engineer, you make sure our electrical systems are safe, reliable and ready for the future. From scheduled maintenance to smart upgrades, you keep things running. Together with the Chief Engineer, you prepare and discuss modifications, and depending on the task, you work independently or with another specialist. Your key responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting a wide range of electrical systems, including PLCs, drive systems and networks up to 6kV\
  • Supporting technical documentation, logbooks and toolbox meetings
  • Contributing to safety on board through drills, inspections and compliance with regulations
  • Exploring or deepening your knowledge in automation, electrical drives and shipboard systems

What do we ask?

You are flexible, stress-resistant, and able to work independently. You bring strong technical skills and enjoy working as part of a team in a challenging environment. You have:

  • An intermediate or higher vocational qualification in Electronic or Electrical Engineering, and preferably a seaman’s book, valid medical certificate and STCW Basic Safety
  • At least 3 years of experience as a First Electrician or similar role, ideally in maritime or industrial automation
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs, network systems and remote connection technologies
  • Familiarity with communication, survey and navigation systems, and optionally with ROVs, offshore cranes, cable lay installations or LNG as fuel
  • EU work permission; an ETO license is a plus, not a must

What do we offer?

Van Oord provides an international, challenging work environment where you can have a real impact on the business, people, and environment. We offer an attractive employment package, including:

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • The opportunity to join an informal, motivated team on board of our vessels, where collaboration and a pleasant working environment are central;
  • Numerous opportunities for personal and professional development.
