As Financial Controller, you are responsible for the quality and reliability of our financial information. You ensure not only that the numbers are correct, but more importantly that we understand what they are telling us and where action is required.
You play an important role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end and year-end closing. In addition, you monitor the financial performance of our projects and proactively challenge and support the organisation where needed.
You work closely with project managers, analyse budgets, margins and forecasts, and identify risks and opportunities at an early stage.
You also actively contribute to improving financial processes, internal controls and reporting.
- Manage and monitor month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and further develop financial reports and management information.
- Analyse results, margins, costs and variances, and translate these into actionable insights.
- Coordinate budgets and forecasts.
- Monitor project budgets and project results and identify financial risks.
- Ensure reliable general ledger accounting, reconciliations, commitments and provisions.
- Support the preparation of the annual financial statements, external audit and financial audits.
- Monitor financial processes, policies and internal controls.
- Support the financial reporting and accountability requirements of grant-funded projects and WBSO.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial processes and systems.
- Act as a financial sparring partner for management and project managers.

You are analytical, independent and accurate, while keeping sight of the bigger picture. You ask critical questions, take ownership and feel comfortable working in a growing organisation where not everything has been set in stone yet.
You have:
- A completed higher professional (HBO) or university (WO) degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business Economics or a comparable field.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting or controlling.
- Experience with financial reporting, closing processes, budgeting and forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial data into business insights.
- Experience working in a project-based organisation and an affinity with project controlling.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to act as a sparring partner.
- Experience with ERP systems; experience with AFAS is an advantage.
- A good command of both Dutch and English.
- Experience with grants and subsidies is a strong advantage.
